Sri Lanka's cricket fans received a blow as the star leg-spinner and allrounder, Wanindu Hasaranga, has been ruled out of the upcoming World Cup due to a severe grade three hamstring tear.

The injury, which initially sidelined him during the Asia Cup, was aggravated during rehabilitation, preventing his recovery in time for the World Cup.

Hasaranga initially suffered the injury while playing in the Lanka Premier League tournament, where he captained the B Love Kandy team.

His absence will be felt significantly by the Sri Lankan cricket team, as Hasaranga is known for his outstanding skills as both a bowler and a batsman, making him a crucial asset to the squad.
