Lalith Kannangara, a criminal sought on international red notices, has been successfully captured in a joint operation by Dubai law enforcement authorities and international law enforcement agencies.

The arrest follows a grave incident that transpired on December 18th of the previous year when a perpetrator known as "Burumoona" opened fire inside a shop located in the Hanwella Cross Road area, resulting in the tragic death of an individual. Lalith Kannangara had been identified as the alleged mastermind behind this heinous crime, leading to the issuance of international red notices for his arrest.

Lalith Kannangara's criminal activities extend beyond this incident, with law enforcement sources describing him as a significant player in the world of extortion and a major participant in large-scale drug trafficking operations.

In response to his capture, the Western (South) Crime Division of Sri Lanka Police is now working diligently to initiate extradition proceedings and bring Lalith Kannangara back to Sri Lanka to face the charges against him.
