The web team at Matara Rahul Vidyalaya has unveiled an innovative information system designed to streamline the preference recording process for elections. This groundbreaking system was unveiled during the student parliament elections held at Matara Rahul College.
The newly introduced system allows for the efficient recording of preferences online during any election, reducing the associated costs and time traditionally required for the process. Notably, this system was put to the test during the student parliament election, where approximately 3,000 students and teachers participated in the online voting process.
What sets this initiative apart is the remarkable speed at which results were announced—only three and a half hours after the conclusion of voting.
Principal Samitha Kurukulasuriya's guidance and the dedication of senior student leader Nadeeja Kalhara Liyanarachchi played pivotal roles in the successful implementation of this online preference recording system. They worked closely with the college's web group supervisors, Lalanika Rangodage, Nuwan Ratnayake, and Sajith Chaturanga, to bring this technological advancement to life.
