The Acting Manager of the Nochchiyagama Unit of the Sri Lanka Mahaweli Authority has been apprehended on allegations of bribery, following a complaint filed by a local resident in the Nochchiyagama area.

Officers from the Bribery or Corruption Investigation Commission took the suspect into custody on the afternoon of September 20th, based on the complaint made by an individual from the same locality.

The arrest was conducted while the suspect was reportedly in the process of accepting a bribe amounting to 75,000 rupees. The bribe was intended to facilitate the issuance of a land license, transferring ownership from the complainant's deceased father to the complainant.

The arrested Acting Manager is scheduled to appear before the Nochchiyagama Magistrate's Court
