Eastern Province Governor Senthil Thondaman expressed his disapproval of a recent Thileepan commemoration demonstration that occurred without police permission in an area predominantly inhabited by Sinhalese residents.

During an impromptu press conference held at the Eastern Governor's Office in Trincomalee on the 19th of September, Governor Senthil Thondaman voiced his concerns regarding the unauthorized demonstration.

Governor Thondaman stated, "It is my responsibility to uphold law and order in the Eastern Province. I do not endorse the actions taken by the Member of Parliament in organizing this event. At a time when our nation faces economic challenges, it is imperative that all public figures exercise caution and responsibility. Such demonstrations have the potential to disrupt the harmony of our country."
