A collective of Professional Unions submitted a memorandum to the Sri Lankan office of the International Monetary Fund (IMF). Their request primarily focuses on the revision of the Pay-As-You-Earn (PAYE) tax policy.
The Union of Professionals confirmed the submission of this memorandum, directing it to the attention of the IMF delegation currently visiting Sri Lanka. The purpose of this delegation's visit is to conduct the first review of the International Monetary Fund's extended loan program within the country.
The Professionals' Unions emphasize the critical nature of revising the PAYE tax policy in their memorandum. They believe that if the IMF does not address these concerns in the first review, it may lead to more stringent actions from professionals in the future.
