In response to a deeply distressing incident of sexual assault involving a group of five-year-old female students at a special school in Kurunegala town, Governor of the North West Province, Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena, has taken decisive action.

The suspected teacher involved in the incident has been suspended from their service with immediate effect.

He has further instructed the North West Province Chief Secretary, the North West Chief Ministry Secretary, and the North West Province Director of Education to conduct a thorough and prompt investigation into the matter.
