President Ranil Wickremesinghe embarked on a journey to Cuba this morning, where he is set to address the G77 + China Leaders' Summit. The summit, themed "Current Development Challenges: Role of Science, Technology, and Innovation," is scheduled to take place from September 14 to 16 in Havana.
As President Wickremesinghe temporarily leaves his post, he has appointed a group of capable individuals to act in key ministerial roles during his absence. State Minister Kanaka Herath will serve as the Acting Minister of Technology and Investment Promotion, ensuring the continued focus on technological advancements and investment opportunities.
Similarly, State Minister Anupa Pasquel will take on the responsibilities of Acting Minister of Women, Children, and Social Empowerment, prioritizing the welfare and empowerment of these vital segments of the population.
State Minister Ranjith Siyambalapitiya will assume the role of Acting Minister of Finance, overseeing the nation's fiscal matters during this period. Finally, Pramitha Tennakoon will serve as Acting Minister of Defence, ensuring national security is upheld.
