Opposition Leader MP Sajith Premadasa has put an end to speculations surrounding his candidacy in the upcoming Presidential Election in 2024 by affirming his intention to run. The statement comes in response to rumors suggesting he might not contest if President Ranil Wickremesinghe decides to run for the presidency.
Addressing an event on Sunday, September 3rd, MP Premadasa dismissed these rumors and, in a bold statement, implied that such speculation could be perceived as a threat to his life. He firmly asserted, "However, to contest the election, I will have to be alive. I wonder if their saying 'Sajith won't run' is an innuendo about Sajith Premadasa's life."
The leader of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) emphasized that his determination to contest the 2024 Presidential elections remains unwavering. He quipped, "Here I am saying I'm going to contest, and then you have those idiots saying 'I definitely won't contest'."
MP Sajith Premadasa's resolute declaration puts an end to uncertainty surrounding his candidacy and sets the stage for what promises to be a highly anticipated and closely watched election in 2024.
