In a new development for the healthcare sector, Dr. Ajith Mendis has been chosen as the new chairman of the State Pharmaceutical Corporation. 

The appointment was announced by the minister in charge of subjects, Keheliya Rambukwella, who cited the need for fresh leadership in the organization.

Dr. Mendis's selection comes as a replacement for Sarath Liyanage, who held the position of chairman until recently.

Dr. Ajith Mendis brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having previously served as the Director General of Health Services.
