SLPP MP Namal Rajapaksa found himself confronted with serious allegations concerning an unpaid electricity bill from his extravagant wedding. Amidst the accusations, addressing a public meeting today, Rajapaksa tried to defend himself by stating that neither he nor his father had ever received any such bill from the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB).
However, the situation took a dramatic turn when former JVP Provincial Council member, Nalin Hewage, revealed that an RTI document showed an outstanding amount of Rs. 26,82,246.57 for security lights and generators used during the opulent event held at the lavish Weeraketiya house between September 12, 2019, and September 15, 2019.
Facing mounting criticism, Rajapaksa decided to address the issue head-on and officially contacted the CEB to inquire about the status of the bill registered under his name. The seriousness of the matter has raised concerns among the public and political circles, as the unpaid bill continues to tarnish the MP's reputation.
As the controversy unfolds, Namal Rajapaksa's failure to pay the electricity bill has led to widespread criticism, leaving him at the center of the storm. The spotlight remains on him as he seeks to resolve the matter and dispel the allegations surrounding his wedding expenses.
