Journalist Assaulted and Arrested by Police During Protest in Sri Lanka; Human Rights Commission to Summon All Concerned Individuals for Inquiry

The Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka has issued a statement on the incident in which Tharindu Uduwaragedera, a journalist, was assaulted and arrested by Borella Police while reporting on a protest.

In response, the Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka (HRCSL) promptly dispatched their Rapid Response Team to investigate the matter.

The HRCSL has announced that they will summon all concerned individuals allegedly connected to this incident for a comprehensive inquiry.

Additionally, they recommended that Uduwaragedera be examined by a Judicial Medical Officer to assess his condition. The commission is dedicated to upholding justice and accountability in this case, and further updates will be provided as the investigation unfolds.
