Colombo Fort Magistrate Court Issues Order Restricting Trade Union Protests on Designated Roads

The Colombo Fort Magistrate Court has issued a crucial order today (25) restricting members of several trade unions from entering specific roads in Colombo. The order, issued by Magistrate Thilina Gamage, aims to ensure the safety of public and private properties during scheduled demonstrations.

According to the court order, members of trade unions are prohibited from entering the following roads from 9 am to 6 pm today:

  1. Olcott Mawatha from the Presidential Secretariat to CTO Junction, encompassing the Presidential Palace, Ministry of Finance, Central Bank, Police Headquarters, and Fort Railway Station.
  2. Lotus Road from CTO Junction to Ceramic Junction NSA Roundabout.
  3. York Street, Bank Mawatha, Chatham Street, Mudalige Mawatha, Baron Jayathilaka Mawatha, Opposite Police Headquarters, Baladaksha Mawatha, Chaitya Road, Janadhipathu Mawatha.
  4. Galle Road from Galle Face Roundabout to NSA Roundabout, and Galle Road near the President's Secretariat.

The court's decision comes in the wake of planned demonstrations by certain trade unions in the capital city.
