President Wickremesinghe Announces Committee Stage Amendments to Anti-Corruption Law, Considering Supreme Court's Proposals

President Ranil Wickremesinghe has told the Tamil Parliamentarians from the North and East that the Anti-Corruption Law is set to undergo Committee Stage amendments in Parliament on July 19th.

Furthermore, the President assured the consideration of proposed amendments from the Supreme Court in the ongoing efforts to strengthen the law. The President's announcement comes as a response to the growing concern over corruption and its impact on Sri Lanka's governance and socio-economic fabric.

The amendments aim to bolster the existing legal framework and create a more robust mechanism to tackle corruption at all levels of the government and society. The new legislation comes ahead of the second installment of the IMF Extended Fund Facility to Sri Lanka.

Additionally, the President acknowledged the importance of the Supreme Court's recommendations and expressed his commitment to consider these proposals during the amendment process.
