In the wake of this incident and the broader concern over the rising number of deaths attributed to drugs, Dr. Rukshan Bellana, President of the Government Medical Officers' Forum, is urging the convening of a Cabinet meeting to address the matter urgently. Dr. Bellana highlights the need for immediate action to tackle the issue, expressing suspicions that the importation of substandard drugs from questionable companies, often facilitated through Indian loan assistance, may be a contributing factor.
