In a statement delivered today in Parliament, Power and Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekera revealed alarming statistics regarding the recent spate of power outages and disconnections. 

The minister announced that over 14,000 power outages were reported yesterday and today, attributing them to adverse weather conditions that have been sweeping across the region. In addition, more than 50,000 connections have been forcefully disconnected due to these widespread outages.

The minister's announcement comes as a shock to citizens and businesses alike, who have been grappling with the repercussions of frequent power disruptions.
