Gold material worth seven lakh fifty thousand rupees and a sum of over six lakh rupees have been reported stolen from the residence of an appeal court judge located in the Urapola Bopatta area, as confirmed by the police.
Antanagalla Police have apprehended an individual on suspicion of involvement in the incident.
Preliminary investigations have revealed that the judge was not present at the time of the theft, with only the house staff being present on the premises.
The police inquiry has determined that the stolen gold articles and cash were taken from a small safe within a cupboard inside the house.
Under the guidance of Gampaha Senior Superintendent of Police, Mr. Jagath Rohana, the investigation will be overseen by Chief Inspector Yasendra Nalaka of the Attanagalla Police Station.
