In a special Cabinet meeting held yesterday, the proposed domestic debt restructuring programme put forward by the Finance Ministry has received unanimous approval.
The decision was reached following a presentation made by Central Bank Governor Dr. Nandalal Weerasinghe to the Cabinet on the restructuring plan.
After thorough deliberation and analysis of the proposal, the Cabinet members expressed their support for the debt restructuring programme, recognizing its potential to alleviate the country's financial burden.
The programme aims to address the growing concerns surrounding domestic debt, offering a strategic framework for managing and reducing the country's debt obligations.
The approved proposal will now proceed to the next Parliament session, where it will be presented for comprehensive discussions among the parliamentarians.
