Rohitha Bogollagama has been appointed as the High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, set to assume office on August 1. Bogollagama, who was previously associated with the United National Party (UNP), transitioned to the Rajapaksa administration during the presidency of Mahinda Rajapaksa, where he held the position of Foreign Minister.
Following his defeat in the Parliamentary election of 2015, Bogollagama briefly served as a provincial governor before his recent appointment as the High Commissioner to the United Kingdom. This prestigious diplomatic role is expected to facilitate bilateral relations between Sri Lanka and the United Kingdom, addressing matters of mutual interest and strengthening ties between the two nations.
