In an unexpected turn of events, a group of senior members from the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) reportedly did not participate in a discussion convened by the President's Secretary under the chairmanship of the President himself.
The primary purpose of the meeting was to address the current political and economic situation of the country. Political party members representing the government were invited to attend this crucial session.
Regrettably, a notable faction of SLPP Members of Parliament, including SM Chandrasena, Wimalaweera Dissanayake, Gamini Lokuge, Namal Rajapakse, Sagara Kariyawasam, Rohitha Abeygunawardena, and Johnston Fernando, chose not to be present at the meeting.
However, it is worth mentioning that government members and state ministers affiliated with the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna actively participated in the discussion.
Speaking on the matter, a senior leader within the party emphasized the importance of transparent communication and organizational protocols. They stated that if there is a need to convene a meeting involving all party members, the party leaders should be notified in advance. Furthermore, the leader highlighted the significance of engaging the party leaders before approaching the President through the established party channels.
As the absence of these senior SLPP members raises eyebrows and sparks speculation, political observers are closely monitoring the developments within the party. The reasons behind their non-participation in the discussion remain undisclosed, leaving room for speculation.
