During a recent meeting chaired by President Ranil Wickremesinghe, a group of members from the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna expressed their concerns about the lack of justice for government ministers whose houses were set ablaze during the Aragalaya incident last year.
The MPs presented their grievances at a meeting of ruling party MPs held at the President's office on Monday. They highlighted the fact that a case filed on behalf of the affected ministers had been unknowingly withdrawn.
According to the MPs, the withdrawal of the case was based on assurances from the police that a thorough investigation into the incident would be conducted. However, no significant progress has been made in this regard, leading to frustration among the MPs.
During the government party meeting, members of the Podujana Peramuna, including Gamini Lokage, Sagara Kariyawasam, and DB Herath, voiced their deep regret over the failure to take action against those responsible for the arson attacks.
The members emphasized the importance of delivering justice to the affected ministers and holding the perpetrators accountable for their actions. They called for renewed efforts in investigating the incident and ensuring that justice is served.
