Colombo Fort Magistrate Thilina Gamage has issued an order today, remanding Bruno Divakara in custody until the 7th of June.
Divakara was arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on charges of aiding and abetting Jayani Natasha Edirisuriya, who was previously remanded for issuing a statement that insulted Buddhist philosophy and culture.
The Computer Crime Division of the CID apprehended Divakara on May 31 and presented him in court earlier today.
The CID informed the court that Edirisuriya, the primary suspect, had made a statement during a program called "Modabhimana," which, according to the police, not only harmed but also insulted and disrespected Buddhist philosophy. Furthermore, the statement in question was distributed through the internet, amplifying its reach and impact.
