Brass Hinges Stolen from Navy Commander's Personal Residence; Suspect Arrested by Colombo Crime Division

A suspect who stole brass hinges from the private residence of Navy Commander Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera has been apprehended by the Colombo Crime Division in Dehiwala. The suspect, a 30-year-old man nicknamed "Sudu," hails from Madapata Jamburaliya.

He allegedly stole hinges worth 64,000 rupees from the Navy Commander's Polgasovita, Horetuduwa, Delgahawatta residence between April 2 and April 17 last year.

Police revealed that the suspect stole brass hinges from all doors and windows of the house, which the suspect sold to a hardware store in Bokundara for 5,600 rupees. The police said the suspect did not steal any other property from the residence.

During the investigation, the police discovered that the suspect had stolen hinges from three other homes in the Kesbewa police area.
