Tight security measures were implemented as the four suspects remanded in custody in connection with the death of a 16-year-old schoolgirl who fell from a five-storey building in Kalutara were brought to the Kalutara Magistrate's Court on May 15th.

A silent protest staged by nearly 100 people, including the deceased girl's mother, outside the court in Gallupara.

The protestors held placards demanding justice for the girl, proper investigations by the police, and action against the substandard building. The protest was dispersed after some time.

The suspects, which included the young couple who took the girl to the hotel, the wife of the hotel owner, and the driver of the main suspect, were brought to court amid heavy security presence. Special police security was also seen deployed in Kalutara city.
