A manhunt is underway in Kalutara as police search for a suspect in connection with the mysterious death of a schoolgirl in the area. Several investigation teams have been mobilized to locate and apprehend the individual who is currently on the run.

According to the police, the suspect has already been identified as a married resident of Kalutara. Senior Superintendent of Police Advocate Nihal Talduwa made the announcement at a press conference held on Saturday.

During the briefing, Talduwa revealed that investigating officers will take steps to obtain a foreign travel ban against the suspect if necessary. This measure will ensure that the suspect cannot leave the country while the investigation is ongoing.

In addition, police have arrested a 19-year-old schoolgirl and a 22-year-old man who were present at the scene of the crime. The owner of the car they arrived in was also taken into custody. The vehicle has since been impounded by police.

The police are urging anyone with information about the whereabouts of the suspect to come forward immediately. They have also asked members of the public to avoid speculating on the case and to let the authorities conduct their investigation.
