The Motor Traffic Commissioner General, Nishantha Anuruddha, has announced that vehicles that have not obtained revenue licenses for 5 years will be blacklisted and removed from the Motor Traffic Department's information system.
During a recent media briefing, Anuruddha highlighted that out of the 8.3 million vehicles currently registered with the department, only 6 million have obtained the QR codes required for purchase of fuel.
The revenue license is mandatory to obtain QR codes and it indicates that nearly 2 million vehicles have not obtained their revenue license on time.
To rectify this issue, district car inspectors will locate and remove vehicles that have not continuously obtained revenue licenses for more than 5 years from the department's information system.
