An attempt to unite the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) and the United National Party (UNP) under one umbrella has been abandoned, according to SJB MP Mano Ganesan.

Ganesan is also the Leader of the Tamil Progressive Alliance, a party affiliated with the SJB.

Despite speculation in the media that UNP Leader and President Ranil Wickremesinghe was willing to appoint SJB Leader Sajith Premadasa as the Prime Minister in a new coalition government, Ganesan stated that the Sajith Premadasa-led party did not respond to their efforts.

Ganesan clarified that he and MP Rauf Hakeem made the effort together but did not discuss anything related to the “Prime Ministership”.”
