a constable from the Ampara Vellaveli police station has been suspended after participating in a protest by the National People's Power at Ampara Gonagolla Junction against the increase in water and electricity bills.
The constable was suspended from work yesterday (5) after an investigation was conducted against him for participating in the protest against the government at Gonagolla Junction on the 26th while wearing civilian clothes without submitting any leave notice.
The police have taken action against the constable for violating regulations that prohibit police officers from participating in protests while in uniform or without prior permission.
