Kalutara District SJB MP Rajitha Senaratne, has stated that if a cabinet reshuffle occurs in the future and he is offered the position of Health Minister, he is willing to accept it.
He made this announcement while speaking to the media after a visit to a private hospital in Bandaragama. This comes against the backdrop of widespread speculations that a number of SJB MPs will join the Government in the coming days.
Senaratne said he was prepared to take on the responsibility. He highlighted the significance of his appointment as a minister in 2015, where the leader of the opposition became a minister for the first time. He attributed this to the United National Party's victory at that time.
Senaratne emphasized that he always makes decisions based on politics, rather than for personal gain. He expressed his belief that some individuals are motivated by financial gain, while others, like himself, are guided by their political convictions.
Overall, Senaratne's remarks suggest his willingness to take on a significant role in the government, should the opportunity arise.
