Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MP S.M Marikkar has warned Government officials to not be baited by President Ranil Wickremesinghe and fall for his deceptive ways. Speaking in Parliament yesterday Marikkar commented on the Government’s claim of not having sufficient funds to hold elections and said the Treasury Secretary Mahinda Siriwardana must be prepared to be imprisoned for his actions under a future SJB Government. Marikkar said Ranil Wickremesinghe is known to deceive people in such a manner. “He has deceived us many times as well,” he said referring to his time with the United National Party (UNP) led by Wickremesinghe. 

“We ask Government officials to not be baited by him and be deceived. Do not fall into trouble,” he warned. He highlighted the recent court decision delivered to former President Maithripala Sirisena in relation to the Easter Sunday attack and asked the officials to bear that decision in mind at all times. “We tell Siriwardana, the Government Printer and the IGP that Ranil Wickremesinghe will no longer be President after next year. Therefore under a new Government be prepared to face prison terms for contempt of court and violating the constitution,” he said.
