Slain journalist Lasantha Wickrematunga's daughter Ahimsa Wickremetunga wrote a moving note on her father on the latter's 14th death anniversary.

Wickrematunga, the former editor of the now defunct Sunday Leader newspaper, was killed in broad daylight by a group of gunmen on January 08, 2009.

Fingers were pointed at former President Mahinda Rajapaksa and his brother, the then Defence Ministry Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa over the murder but the investigations into the killing ended inconclusively.

"14 years ago today was the worst day of my life. We love and miss you so much. I am so so lucky to be your daughter. I’ve watched your spirit manifest through the Aragalaya this last year and I wish you were here to see it all. I will fight for you till the end," Ahimsa wrote in her tribute today.
