Elle Gunawansa Thera has accused US Ambassador Julie Chung of being responsible for the Aragalaya. The Thera was taking part in a television interview when he made the claim. According to him, the Aragalaya or citizen’s struggle was an international conspiracy and the Born-again cult in Sri Lanka was a key player. He also accused the diaspora of being involved in the struggle.

The prominent Bhikku claimed it was the international community that sought to destabilize the country and the CIA and the RAW agencies also supported these efforts.

The Thera claimed US Ambassador Julie Chung is a Born-Again Christian and played a major role in instigating the Aragalaya. He also accused the groups of attempting to destabilise the country and rob Sri Lanka of its national assets.
