The proposed electricity tariff revision to be implemented for the year 2023 is scheduled to be submitted to the cabinet meeting today by Kanchana Wijesekera, Minister of Power and Energy.

The procedure for revising the electricity tariff is given in Section 30 of the Electricity Act. Accordingly, the Ceylon Electricity Board should prepare a tariff increase proposal according to the method mentioned and submit it to the Public Utilities Commission.

Then it should be reviewed and public opinion should be obtained if necessary.
