A Bhikku is being praised on social media after he along with the Dhayaka Sabhawa of a temple allowed a family to hold their young teenage daughter’s funeral at the temple after their rental homeowner refused to allow them to have the funeral on the rented premises.

The 15-year-old, Nipuni Nisansala originally from Moneragala had been living with her parents and siblings in a house located in Dedigamuwa when she passed away months after finding out she was suffering from brain cancer. However, the rental homeowner had refused the family struck by tragedy to hold her funeral at their rental home.

However the Chief Incumbent of the Dedigama, Manangamuwa Temple Kalubowitiyana Sirirathana Thera stepped in and offered the family the temple premises to hold the funeral of the teen. Her final rites will take place today.
