Several new types of visa categories have been introduced for investors and other parties coming for services such as international trade, shipping and operations, finance, information technology and tourism to be established in the port city of Colombo.

Based on the recommendations of the Colombo Port City Commission, the Cabinet has approved the introduction of the following visa categories.

• “Investor Visa” category for investors under the Residence Visa category
  
  
• “Employment Visa” category for employees
  
  
• “CPC Resident Property Lessee” visa category for foreigners residing on a lease basis in the port city of Colombo
