Activist Tharindu Uduwaragedara says the management of the BMICH has informed a group of Trade Unions, Civil Society groups and mass organisations that it cannot provide the premises for a meeting that is scheduled to be held on 10 December. The group had already booked the premises when they were informed of the sudden cancellation.

Taking to his Facebook page, Uduwaragedara said it was the third time the group was informed this week that their bookings for various premises to hold meetings and events have been cancelled.

Activists have accused the government of various attempts to suppress them with this being the latest move.

“You can't get onto the roads! Neither can you meet in the halls! No activities are allowed for you! - says the Government” Uduwaragedara said in his post.
