Army Commander Lt. General Vikum Liyanage presented an international standard attaché case designed by electrical and mechanical engineers of the Sri Lanka Army to President Ranil Wickremesinghe at the Presidential Office this morning (02).
The President’s Media Unit said Wickremesinghe had handed over the task of making the special bag international standard briefcase to the Sri Lanka Army to introduce to Sri Lanka the international tradition of world leaders using an attaché case when travelling abroad.
“Accordingly, on the special instructions of President Ranil Wickramasinghe, under the direct supervision of the Army Commander, a group of experts in the field headed by the Director of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering of the Army has designed this bag according to the specifications given by the Presidential Secretariat.” the PMD said.
“The bag offers a combination of well-thought-out features for keeping the bag’s content safe and organized and it is made of premium leather which ensures its durability as it is expected by the President to hand over the Dispatch Bag from one President to the next in line. The President, after accepting and inspecting the high quality and neatly finished Presidential Dispatch Bag, commended the Commander of the Army, the Director of Electrical and Mechanical Engineers and particularly, the skilful and versatile craftsmen of the Sri Lanka Army,” it added.
