Chairman of the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka, Janaka Rathanayake says no electricity tariff hikes are being considered at the moment.
His statement came after Rohan Seneviratne, Additional General Manager of the CEB said the cabinet has approved a tariff hike given the fact the recent increase will not allow CEB to recover its losses.
Seneviratne announced that the Cabinet has approved the increase of electricity tariffs in two steps in the months of January and June 2023 and steps are being taken to obtain approval from the PUCSL.
