Gemunu, a famous tusker at the Yala National Park, has been reportedly injured after being shot by an unidentified person/group. Sources said he was found collapsed inside the park after being shot. 

Gemunu is popular among visitors as he is known to stop jeeps and rummage for food inside them. His tusks were damaged on two previous occasions during a fight with other tuskers in the park.

The Wildlife Department has started treating the injured elephant sources said.
