A Buddhist monk who had failed to pay a bill amounting to Rs. 500 000 to the Hilton Hotel in Colombo has been arrested and remanded till 11 November. The monk from Mahiyangana had stayed at the Hilton for 18 days and also obtained food and drink from the hotel. He was later hospitalized when he fell ill during checking out. Later he had left Colombo and returned to the temple without settling the dues despite promising to do so after being released from the hospital.

He was arrested at the Rambakan Purana Vihara in Mahiyangana by the CID after a complaint was lodged by the hotel. He had once again fallen ill yet again during the arrest and admitted to hospital.
