The Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka has demanded an explanation from IGP C.D Wickramaratne on the actions of the Police at the Galle Face Green on Sunday during a peaceful protest held by a group including children to commemorate those who died during the Aragalaya. 

The IGP has been given 24 hours to respond to the HRCSL’s query after the organization commenced an investigation into the incident of its own volition. 

Videos from the event saw Police manhandling children and teenagers present along with their parents drawing widespread criticism.
