The caretaker of the Padaviya Irrigation Department is currently receiving treatment at the Anuradhapura Hospital after being transferred from the Padaviya Base hospital for further treatment after being assaulted by an Army Major attached to the Commando regiment. According to sources, the Army Major was drunk when the assault took place.

Sources said the assault had taken place when the water supply of the bungalow had been disrupted and Major had laid blame on the caretaker. The Major had then proceeded to physically attack the caretaker. The attack on the caretaker has been confirmed by the Padaviya Irrigation Department Office.

However, the Padaviya Police is yet to arrest the suspect Major or anyone else linked to the incident.
