PM instructs to celebrate 75th Independence Day at low cost

Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena advised all the parties organizing the event of 75th Independence Day to consider the historical status and pride and organize the national event and celebrations across the country in a new way. These instructions were given during a discussion held at the Ministry of Public Administration, Home Affairs, Provincial Councils and Local Government on 14.09.2022 regarding the role of the committee members of the Committee for 75th Commemoration of Independence - 2023.

Ashoka Priyantha, State Minister of Home Affairs too attended at this meeting and Mr. Dinesh Gunawardhana, Prime Minister and the Minister of Public Administration, Home Affairs, Provincial Councils and Local Government stated that this is not just an Independence Day Celebration but the 75th year of independence which is a special occasion. He advised to understand all these and instructed to organize all activities of the national festival in a new and creative manner, involving the history of independence, with the support of all parties at a low cost.

The Prime Minister said that the President too expects to celebrate independence in a new way this year.

Priyantha Mayadunne, Secretary, Ministry of Public Administration, Home Affairs, Provincial Councils and Local Government, K.G. Dharmathilaka, Additional Secretary of Ministry of Home Affairs and relevant officers in Ministries and Institutions participated at this discussion.
