The doctor who was arrested in Kurunegala yesterday for amassing wealth in a suspicious manner has been handed over to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) for further investigations.

However, police sources added that no evidence has been found so far to link the doctor to the controversy around unconsented sterilization surgeries.

The controversy was sparked after an unverified newspaper report published by a Sinhala daily last week.

However, the Director of the hospital has invited the public to provide any information on such unconsented sterilization surgeries performed at the Kurunegala hospital.
