Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has reportedly directed the police to take action against SLFP General Secretary Dayasiri Jayasekera for interfering with the activities of the Police.

Jayasekera was seen at the Hettipola police station yesterday, allegedly to secure the release of several suspects arrested for damaging mosques and Muslim-owned properties.

The suspects were then taken to the Bingiriya police station where they were granted Police bail after Jayasekera's intervention.

Army deserter Namal Kumara, who first revealed the alleged plot to kill President Maithripala Sirisena, was also pictured alongside Jayasekera at the Hettipola police station.
