Army Commander Lt.General Mahesh Senanayake requested the public to resume their daily activities without fear as security forces have taken every possible measure to restore normalcy in the country.
He said under Emergency Regulations defence forces have been given fill authority to ensure national security.
The Army Commander assured the public that there was no reason to panic unnecessarily. "Be careful about what you hear concerning the national security. Don't fall for rumours and false information, " Senanayake said, making a statement last night.
Meanwhile, Defence Ministry Secretary General Shantha Kottegoda also said the public should not be misled by false information and rely on verified information released by proper channels.
