Former Sri Lanka Cricket Chairman Thilanga Sumathipala's allies secured all major positions in the cricket administration at the Sri Lanka Cricket election this morning.
Sumathipala's ally Shammi Silva became the President of Sri Lanka Cricket by securing 83 votes. His rival, former SLC Chairman Jayantha Dharmadasa was only able to obtain 56 votes.
Former captain Arjuna Ranatunga who contested for the Vice President post of Sri Lanka Cricket lost to Sumathipala-ally Ravin Wickremeratne. K. Mathivanan was also elected a Secretary of SLC.
Meanwhile, Ranatunga's brother Nishantha Ranatunga also lost his bid to become the Secretary to Mohan de Silva representing the Sumathipala camp.
