The Bandarwela Police today informed the Magistrate's Court that they would arrest UNP Parliamentarian Chaminda Wijesiri for assaulting a Police officer yesterday. 

It was reported last night that Wijesiri had assaulted a Police officer attached to the Narcotics Division of the Bandarawela Police. 

The officer has been admitted to the hospital following the assault. He is currently under medical observation. 

Asian Mirror was unable to contact Wijesiri to get a comment on the incident. 

Wijesiri is a Badulla District Parliamentarian of the UNP.
