A tense situation occurred in Rajagiriya during a protest staged by estate trade unions who refused to compromise on their demand for a daily wage of Rs. 1000. 

The protest was staged opposite the estate employers' federation office in Rajagiriya this morning. 

The tense situation occurred between the estate employers and the protesting workers who condemned the recent deal reached by a section of trade unions and employers settling for a daily wage of Rs. 850. 

The protesting workers emphasized that they did not recognize the recent "agreement". 

A heavy Police presence is seen in the Rajagiriya area.
