The poster menace returned to Kandy yesterday shortly after provincial authorities took measures to remove all posters from the area.
posters were removed from all public places in the Kandy town as part of a major clean-up drive launched by the provincial authorities.
A large number of volunteers and civil organizations supported the programme and a comprehensive awareness campaign was carried out on social media platforms.
Provincial authorities also stated that laws will be enacted allowing the Police to file actions against those who desecrate public places with posters.
Just days after the clean-up operation, several tuition masters and other advertisers re-launched their poster campaigns, much to the resentment of those who initiated the clean-up drive.
It has now become clear that the clean-up drive, which was launched with wide support from many quarters, has proved to be futile as Kandy is gradually returning to the 'old days'.
